Alberta Qamar
Registered Massage Therapist
I identify as Black, Indigenous/Seminole, Queer & Androgynous. I was originally raised in the Midwest in a musical household rooted in Jazz, and many African instruments. These experiences led me to maintain an ancestral relationship with sound and meditative healing. Challenging life experiences led me to bodywork and the power it can have in releasing trauma in the system.
I graduated with an A.O.S. in massage therapy from the Swedish Institute in NYC. I am certified in California.
I have worked in Portland, NYC, Colorado, and Costa Rica in a range of settings including spas, integrative wellness centers, yoga retreat spaces, home spaces, and in the outdoors.
I practice Shiatsu, Thai Stretching, Reiki/Energywork, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Prenatal, Cupping, Guasha, Myofascial Release & sports massage. I also have an affinity for dance and working with dancers through their physical manifestations of training.
Overall, I constantly keep in mind the sensitivity of working with trauma in the body and spirit whenever approaching any person, and welcomes folks to express their needs before, during and after any session.
